THE STORY OF ICARUS

Read the story. What was Icarus´mistake?

Once long, long ago, there was a famous architect and inventor called Daedalus. For many years he was prisoner on the island of Crete with his son, Icarus.
His prison was a tall tower on a very high cliff. it was impossible to escape.
One day Daedalus noticed the birds. They flew away from the island. Quickly he called his son. "Collect all the feathers you can find", he ordered.
Daedalus made a frame in the shape of wings. Then he used wax and glued feathers to the frame. He put the frame on his shoulders, flapped the wings and ... he flew! Then Daedalus made a smaller frame for his son, Icarus.
One windy day, Daedalus and Icarus went to the edge of a cliff and jumped. it was amazing! At first Icarus flew near his father. But then he flew higher. Daedalus called out: "Don´t fly near the sun!" But Icarus didn´t hear him. He flew up and up. In the hot sun, the wax got softer and feathers started falling out of the wings. Soon the wings could not hold the boy in the air and he fell into the blue sea.
Daedalus collected the feathers and took them to the nearest island. He named it Icaria after  his son. He never flew again.
